Mr. Howard served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Korea. He was the President of Southern Maryland Novelty Company in Waldorf, MD for 37 years and also held a Real Estate License. He was a world traveler who studied abroad in Spain, lived for seven years in Medellin, Columbia in South America, and had a great love for the Latin culture. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed life and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church - Chapel Point, MD.

He was son of the late George Wilbur Howard, Sr. and the late Helen Jameson Howard

He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Steven D. Howard and Richard Jameson.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margaret "Peggy" Burch Howard; two sons, John Grant (Victoria) Howard of La Plata, MD and Marc Christopher (Priscilla) Howard of Hagerstown, MD; one brother, Richard Alan Howard of Bel Alton, MD; and two sisters, Elaine Peed of Waldorf, MD and Donna Gentzel of FL. Also survived by four grandchildren, Christopher, Leah, Alexander, and Catherine Howard.

A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with Wake Service at 7pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata, MD.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Chapel Point, MD.

Clergy will be Father Sal Jordan and Monsignor Oliver McGready

Interment to follow at St. Ignatius Catholic Church Cemetery, Chapel Point, MD

Pallbearers will be Jairo Morales, Jared Carter, Raymond Rhoderick, Juan Pablo Giraldo, John Jameson, and J. Gary Burch.
