Dr. Alan John Delhomme, DO, FAAPMR, FAANEM, FAADEP, DABPM, CIME, a devoted husband and father, died suddenly and unexpectedly on June 27, 2010 at his home in La Plata, MD. He was born on May 3, 1945 in Baltimore, MD, and was the only child of the late John A. and Eleanor Delhomme.

He graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1992 after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland at College Park. He practiced medicine with NeuroDiagnostic Associates of Maryland in Bel Air, MD and retired in 2007. He also practiced medicine as a psychiatrist with Southern Maryland Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine in Waldorf and Leonardtown, MD. Prior to his medical career, he was a percussionist in the "President's Own" United States Marine Band. He was a musician in many Washington, DC area bands, and a Private Flight Instructor at Hyde Field in Clinton, MD. As a young man, he served in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Patuxent Naval Air Station.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Therese; son and daughter-in-law, David Delhomme and Kenya Hathaway of Los Angeles, CA; son and daughter-in-law, John and Mindy Delhomme of Spokane, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Monique and John Botkin of Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren: Sunshine, Bryony, Hanna, Chloe, Zachary, Tessa, Abby, and Ryan.

Alan was passionate for family, music, physics, palm trees, the ocean, the beach, and the sun. He was generous, kind, and encouraging, and had a special place in his heart for Southern California. He will be very dearly missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.

Services will be held at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave., La Plata, MD 20646. Visitation: Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service: Friday, July 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD.
