Thomas Bernard Mitchell, 86 of Great Mills, MD died on June 27, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD.

Born December 31, 1923 in Ashville, NC, he was the son of the late Ernest Charles Mitchell and Lemma Thompson Coager.

Mr. Mitchell was a Building Contractor. After retiring, he worked for Lowes for 9 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII which he received a Bronze Star metal. His enjoyments were traveling, working, family, listening to country music and Celine Dion, and living life to its fullness.

Survived by his wife, Jacqueline Kay Payne Mitchell children, Roland Mitchell, Christiana Elford, Cherri Johnson, Kathleen Link, Jamie Mitchell, and Marcia Vaughn, grandchildren, Brittany Moorefield, William and Caitlyn Mitchell, Michael Fennell, Benjam Johnson, Vincent and Ronald, Jr. Howell, Ryan Paval, and Patrick Dowling.

Predeceased by siblings, Melvin Coager, Glenn and James Mitchell, Lillian Connely, and Betty Donaldson.

A Life Celebration will be held Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 where Funeral Service will be on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
