William Carol Bevins, 62, of Mechanicsville, MD, died on June 21, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD.

Born on October 19, 1947 in Pike, KY, he was the son of the late Albert and Roberta Bevins. Mr.

Bevins was employed for over 25 years with Giant Foods Dairy serving as a Quality Control Manager before his retirement. Prior, he served in the U.S. Marines and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was an active member of Indian Nations Warriors and Veterans Honor Color Guard and long time board member of the American Indian Inter-Tribal Cultural Organization Inc. (AIITCO) where he held a number of positions. He was very active in Native affairs and participated in many Native America events along the east coast. Mr. Bevins was also a member of the American Legion, Jameson-Harrison Post 238.

Survived by his loving wife, Janice Marie Bevins of Mechanicsville, MD; daughter, Christina Nicol of Little River, SC; son, William Barry Bevins of Longs, SC; step-daughters, Stacey Blazek of Lothian, MD, Stacy Grefe of Bonita Springs, FL; step-son, Roger Hardesty, Jr. of Edgewater, MD; brother, Larry Bevins of Greenbelt, MD; 8 grandchildren, many friends, and family of the heart.

A Life Celebration and viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, from 4-8 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD, where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.

Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
