Richard Sinclair Carlson, 68, of Mechanicsville, MD, died May 22, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Hospice House of St. Mary's. He was born September 13, 1941 in Washington, DC to the late George Russell Carlson and Mae Anna (Olson) Carlson.

He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Dianne Carlson of Mechanicsville, MD; four children, Cheryl Lynn Daniel of Gregory, MI, Kimberly Ann Foote of Waldorf, MD, Jason Andrew Carlson of Brandywine, MD and Sara E. Littleton of Mechanicsville, MD. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Bobbi, Joey, Martin, Patience, George, Emma and Elijah.

Richard loved to spend time with his grandkids, gardening, canning foods and letting inspiration guide him as he prepared meals for his family.

Family will receive friends to Celebrate Richard's Life on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, May 25, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Moore officiating. Interment will be private.
