William Preston Terry, 57, of Hughesville, MD, died May 18, 2010 at Georgetown University Hospital. He was born August 9, 1952 in Tampa, FL. He was the son of the late Herman Terry and late Elizabeth Boykin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oma and Roy Boyd and James and Mary Costello and his sister, Mary Edna Lozano.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Malis, of Hughesville, MD; brothers, James Newton and wife Becky of Severn, MD, Charles Terry and wife Shirlene of Waco, TX; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Steward, Cindy Terry, Chera Haigler, James C.L. Newton, Atrisha Biesterfeld, Eric Shoesmith and Adrien Lozano and many great nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

He enlisted into the U.S. Marine corps at age 17 and was one of the first graduates of the U.S. Marine Corps Raider School. He served from 1969 to 1972 and worked in S-2 Intelligence. He was also specially selected to serve during the shutdown of the Sangley Point Naval Station.

He graduated from East Carolina University and held degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Electronic Data Processing. He was retired as Vice President of Technology Applications for Information Spectrum, Inc. and Anteon Corporation in Annandale, VA. He enjoyed fishing, grilling, movies, computer games, debating and making people laugh. He was always the life of the party.

Family will receive friends to Celebrate William's Life on Friday, May 21, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church, 28297 Old Village Rd., Mechanicsville, MD with Father Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Church, Bryantown, MD.
