Marilyn Norice Swann departed this life and entered into eternal rest on March 2, 2010 at 5:02 a.m. at Civista Medical Center in LaPlata, Maryland.

She was born to the late Robert and Marie Janie Butler on January 29, 1926 in Charles County, Maryland. Marilyn was the fourth oldest of nine children.

Marilyn attended the Charles County Maryland Public Schools graduating from Pomonkey High School. She was employed as a Pastry Chef at Fort McNair Officer's Club until she later retired.

Marilyn Swann was married to the late Arthur Tillman (Till) Swann and they proudly built their home in Rison, Maryland.

Marilyn became a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Marbury, Maryland where she was baptized at an early age.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Nathan, Odell and Robert (Francis) Butler; two sisters, Irma Butler and Eloise Brown; three sisters-in-law, Louise Linkins, Hazel Martin and Margarite Coates; and four brothers-in-law, James Bland, Haywood Gholson, Robert Linkins and Charles Brown.

Marilyn leaves to cherish her memories, two sisters, Thelma Gholson and Elenora B. Bland; one brother, Ellis E. Butler; sister-in-law, Elizabeth M. Butler and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Marilyn was a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She will be sincerely missed.

Her Viewing and Home Going Celebration will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in the Chapel of THORNTON Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, (State Route #227, Pomonkey) Indian Head, Maryland 20640 from 10am until time of Service, 12 noon. Her Interment will be with her husband Till in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland
