Mr. Crothers was Chief of Engineering and Facilities with the IRS/US Government for 38 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served from 1961-1965. He was a member of Breton Bay Golf and Country Club. He loved golfing, fishing in the Chesapeake Bay, especially in the fall with the rock fish running -he also like to clean and cook them. He enjoyed hunting for over 30 years in PA with his best friend Paul. He also took many trips with his wife to Italy and Scandinavia. He most enjoyed being with family and friends.

He was son of the late Elwood Leslie Crothers and the late Gertrude Genevieve Schlossnagle.

He is predeceased by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Avrick Crothers; three sons, Paul (Trisha) Crothers of Gilroy, CA, Rick (Emilia) O'Reilly of Martinsburg, WV, and Sean (Vicki) O'Reilly of Mechanicsville, MD; one daughter, Leslie (Jim) Witwer of Puyallup, WA; one brother, Clair (Nelly) Crothers of Conowingo, MD; two sisters, Mary (Jim) Langan of Catonsville, MD and Paula (Manley) Pierce of Rising Sun, MD. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Evan, Tessa, Juliana, Alison, Jamie, Annika, and Jordan.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 11AM to 12 Noon at Grace Brethren Church, Waldorf, MD

A Memorial Service will follow on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 12 Noon at Grace Brethren Church, Waldorf, MD.

Clergy will be the Rev. Jeffrey Thornley.

Interment will take place at a later date at MD Veterans' Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.

Pallbearers will be the US Air Force Honor Guard.
