Charles Albert Morris, Jr., 96 of La Plata, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at his home.

Born on March 2, 1925 in Bradbury Heights, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles Albert Morris, Sr. and Mary Rebecca Morris. Fondly known as "Charlie" and "Al," Mr. Morris served in the U. S. Navy during World War II until 1946 when he was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Fireman First Class. While in the Navy, he was awarded the American Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with six Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Victory Medal of World War II, and the Purple Heart for wounds received as a result of enemy action at Okinawa. Mr. Morris was a jack-of-all-trades. As a young boy, he could take "junk" and make it a "treasure." He would go on to own and operate Camp Springs Auto. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Moose Lodge, and several hunting clubs. He enjoyed hunting, making furniture, growing the best tasting tomatoes in Southern Maryland (among other vegetables), traveling with his wife, Duck Pin Bowling, doing jigsaw puzzles, and helping people.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Morris is preceded in death by his two sisters, Grace and Catherine.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Juanita May Morris, who he met on a blind date; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives; friends; and hunting buddies.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 10AM until time of Funeral Service at 12 Noon at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646.
