Thelma S. Baldwin, age 95, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2020 in her home in Owings, Maryland. Thelma was born November 13, 1924 to James A. Sunderland and Adelheit Mary Ball Sunderland. Soon after graduating high school, Thelma fell in love with Ambrose Bell Baldwin, and they married on January 19, 1943. They had a long and happy 55 years of marriage until Brose's passing on July 25, 1998. Thelma retired from Encyclopedia Britannica when she turned 40.

Thelma is a child of God and is remembered for her warm smile and loving and humble heart. She always kept her family close. She loved her family and friends dearly. She enjoyed her lunch outings with her brother Jimmie and their friend Margie. Additionally, she delighted in her weekly outing to the hair salon.

Thelma is predeceased by her loving husband Brose, her parents, her sister Carolyn Randall and brother-in-law James W. Randall, Sr., her sister-in-law Jeanne E. Sunderland, and her niece Sandra L. Fricker. Thelma is survived by her brother James H. Sunderland, her nephew James W. Randall, Jr. (Karen), her niece Barbara J. Andrews (John), her nephew Wayne A. Sunderland (Laura), and many extended nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM where a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private.

- 50 to 75 people max at any given time in Funeral Home.
- Limit visitation to 15 minutes in visitation room to allow for others to express their condolences.
- Funeral Services in Chapel limited to 70 people with four (4) people per pew.
- Masks and six-foot social distancing still applies.
