Roy Gobel, Jr., age 78, of La Plata, Maryland died February 20, 2020 at Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, Maryland. Roy served in the U.S. Army for two years (1964-1965) and was stationed at Fort Meyer, Virginia. He was also a Computer Analyst for 35 years at the U.S. Forest Services and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfret, Maryland.

He was the son of Roy Gobel, Sr. and Rosalee Reed. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Donald D. Gobel, Edward L. Gobel, and Harriet Gobel West. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sue Gobel; his children, Leann Gobel Evans and Chad M. Gobel; and his grandchildren, Carly Evans, Brianna Evans, Alex Gobel, and Matthew Gobel. Funeral services are pending at this time.
