Frances Cecilia Thompson "Speedy" (Age 73) of Mechanicsville, Maryland. Frances Cecilia (Speedy) Thompson, departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, she was peacefully called to eternal rest while at Genesis in La Plata, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late George Louis and Myrtle (Duckett) Ford. She was born and raised in Charles County where she attended Public School.

On September 15, 1962 she was united in holy matrimony to the late James Freddie Thompson. Speedy was employed at Naval Surface Warfare Center (formerly Naval Ordnance Station) from 1966 to 1970. From 1971 to 1992 she was employed at United States Postal Service (Mail Equipment Shop) until she retired in 1992. Her passion was cooking, eating crabs, gardening, bowling, dancing, she loved listening to gospel music and attending other churches with friends. Spending time with family and friends and loved playing the Maryland Lottery. On Sundays you could find her relaxing at a Pisgah Boo-Boos baseball game with a cold Miller Genuine Draft or Schlitz beer in a cup. Everybody that knew Speedy knew she was a diehard Redskins fan.

To her nieces and nephews she was known as Aunt Mary and to others she was known as Speedy. Speedy was a fun loving mother and devoted wife who enjoyed life. She is preceded in death by her sister Mary Catherine Ford; three brother-in-law's Aaron; Curtis and Karl Thompson. She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Harold Maurice, James Anthony (Tony), Demetrius Kendell Thompson and one step-son Jeffery Adams; One daughter Patina Mariea (Tina) Stewart; Son-in-law Melvin Stewart; grandson, Devon Yates, one brother George Ford; two brother-in-law's George (Elizabeth) and Carlo (Betty) and two sister-in-law's Sandra Johnson and Gloria Thompson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Judy Lee, Hazel Makle and various friends that lend a helping hand.
