Garfield Robert Hicks, 61, of Waldorf, Maryland, died June 28, 2017 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland. He was born May 3, 1956 in Charles County, Maryland. He was the son of Leo Woodfolk Hicks and Alice Louise Washington Hicks. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his daughters, Audrey Hicks and Jennette Thomas; his brothers, Leo Woodfolk Hicks, Jr., Leroy A. Hicks, Arthur J. Hicks, Maurice C. Hicks, and Earl G. Hicks; his sisters, Alice Fenwick, Joyce Washington, and Hilda "Sissy" Hicks.

Garfield was a Boat Mechanic at Shymansky Restaurant in Cobb Island, Maryland. He was a diehard Washington Redskins fan who also enjoyed fishing and was well-known to his community. He is survived by his daughters, Laquita Ann Thomas and Robin Hicks; his brothers, Walter Hicks, Randy Hicks, Allen Hicks, and Wayne Hicks; his sisters, Gloria Lancaster, Sheila Hicks, and Lola Hicks; and his grandchildren, JaShaun Thomas, Ja'Quan Thomas, Deion McKinny, Carlos Watson, Khalia Watson, and Jasmire Greenfield. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.

Friends received on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 10AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Mary's Newport Catholic Church, 11555 St. Mary's Church Road, Charlotte Hall, Maryland 20622, officiated by Fr.
