Joseph Eldridge Queen, of La Plata, Maryland quietly and peacefully departed from this life into eternal rest on January 25, 2017 at Georgetown University Hospital. He was born on September 24, 1947 to the late William Joseph and Mary Eliza Queen. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerome Darnell Queen and special cousins Grace Edelen and Donald Lee Thompson.

He leaves a countless number of family members to cherish his precious memories; a loving wife Patricia Hoffman Queen; son, Jonas Queen (Michael), daughter, Monica Queen-Wilson (Martin); grandson, Ryan Weems; sisters Carolyn Queen Countiss, and Sandra Queen Yates; sister-in-laws: Beverly Wade (Paul), Sandra Contee (Joe), and Beverly Adams; brother-in-law Bernard Washington (Gloria); his nephews, Stephen Yates, Andre Countiss, Anthony Queen (Nancy), Vaughn Queen (Val), Darren Yates (Jenny), Juan Brown, and CJ Herd; his nieces, Denise Countiss, Sonya White (Harold), Kim Yates (Tish), Sheranda Vaughn (Jerry), Courtney Phillip (Dereck) and Candyce Herd. A very special cousin Erica Thompson. He has a host of great nephews and nieces that he truly loved.

Viewing will be held February 1, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service, 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Community United Methodist Church in Newburg, Maryland. The Reverend Richard B. Black will officiate. Interment will take place at the church cemetery. Arrangements by Thornton Funeral Home.
