Robert Boniface "Bob" Rezza, 60, of Leonardtown, MD died October 20, 2016 at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born on April 1, 1956 in Washington, D.C. to the late Charles John Rezza and Marie Fiorentino Rezza.

In May 1975, Bob proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served his country as a military policeman until his honorable discharge in May 1979. While serving he earned the Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Service Certificate, Presidential Service Badge #5737 and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. He continued his career serving others with Prince George's County Police as a Lieutenant for 23 years.

Upon retiring he continued his career in law enforcement with the Maryland State Police. In 2008 he earned the Maryland Trooper of the Year award for the State; becoming one of the oldest troopers to earn this award. He started many new programs to help others, which went on to win numerous awards. He was "a cop first" and "loved his job. After over 35 dedicated years of service in law enforcement he retired in 2014 due to his battle with ALS.

His greatest love was for his family, whom he enjoyed spending his free time with. On February 13, 2016 he married his beloved wife, Brenda Marie Lyon Rezza. They shared over 12 wonderful years together. His hobbies included spending time outside and on the water. He enjoyed his home in Florida. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10957, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church.

In addition to his beloved wife, Bob is also survived by his children, Michael West Rezza of Brandywine, MD and Leah Marie Rezza of Alexandria, VA; his step-daughters, Jennifer Marie Hemming and Katlyn Florence Lyon, both of Leonardtown, MD; his grandsons, Brendan Boniface Wahl and Troy Brandon-Luke Eckloff, and many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Family will receive friends for Bob's Life Celebration on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with prayers recited at 7:00 p.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD. On Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend David Beaubien at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 22800 Washington Street, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Inurnment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be all his brothers in law enforcement. Memorial Contributions may be made to the ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 6051, Alberta Lea, MN 56007. Arrangements: Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, MD.
