John Anthony Caspar, 100, of Hollywood, MD passed away on October 17, 2016 in Charlotte Hall Veterans Home Charlotte Hall, MD. Born on July 31, 1916 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Sophia F. Curry Caspar and Christian Caspar. John is survived by his niece Charlene Knapp of Tampa, FL. He was preceded in death by 10 brother and sisters. All services will be private. Arrangements by Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home.

John served as a Staff Sargent in the United States Army from March 23, 1942 to October 8, 1945. John served in the Third Army Division Company C 25th Armored Engineer Battalion, his duty stations included: Brittany Campaign, Seille River Campaign, SAAR Campaign, Ardennes Campaign (Battle of the Bulge), Dasburg-Illume Campaign, and Germany Campaign. He earned; European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star and certificate of Merit during World War II. John worked as a Topographical Engineer for the U.S. Army Map Services. He loved to garden and build bird houses.
