June Elizabeth Cowan, 71, of Welcome, Maryland passed away on September 22, 2016 at her home. Beloved wife of the late Russell Leo Richards, Sr. and Charles Edward Cowan, Sr.

She is survived by her partner of 27 years, Robert Lee "Bobby" Cook and two daughters, June Elizabeth Smith and her husband Thomas Rodney Smith of Indian Head, Maryland and Peggy Sue Tompkins and her husband, Vondal William Tompkins, Jr. of Lee, Florida; four grandchildren, Randy Wayne Stanley, Jr. and his fiance, Krizia Ebalo of North Hollywood, California, Von W. Tompkins, III and his wife, Whitney of Lee, Florida, Lisa Marie Tompkins and her fiance, Jason Singletary of Lee, Florida, and Thomas Michael Smith and his fiance, Nicole Owens of King George, Virginia; and seven great-grandchildren, Hayden William Tompkins, Brinson Scott and Braxton Scott Singletary, Cheyenne Elizabeth Singletary and Presley Ann Tompkins of Lee, Florida, and Austin Jacob and Isabella Marie Smith of King George, Virginia.

She was known as "Mama June" by many friends and neighbors and "Nanna" by long-time friend, Margaret Stevens.

Friends received on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with Funeral Service at 6:30PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11AM at MD Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623. Arrangements by Raymond Funeral Service.
