MCPO Robert F. Arundel, Retired, age 89 of Waldorf, MD died on August 27, 2016. Robert F. Arundel was born in Lawrence, MA on December 19, 1926.

He discontinued his formal education in the "second month of his second year" of high school and entered the U.S. Navy just after his eighteenth birthday in 1944. He served as an Operations Specialist, instructing junior and senior personnel in the areas of electronics and air and ship control. Bob would eventually earn his GED and rise to the rank of Master Chief. He served in World War II and Korea and retired from the military in 1967.

He married Joan P. Carley of Norfolk, VA on February 18, 1950. Daughters Susan Joan, Barbara Eleanor and Christine Marie followed. When the family relocated to Miami, FL, Bob was accepted and graduated from the Dade County Police Academy. At that time and at the age of 51, he was the oldest individual to have completed the academy. Bob served as a Deputy Sheriff until he retired in 1987. Bob has spent the last three years in an assisted living facility after suffering a stroke in 2013.

Joan, Susan and Barbara would predecease him and he relocated to Charles County, MD in 1994 with daughter, Christine. They established a small, home-based business, "Squeaky's Clean Printer & Copier Services, LLC." They enjoyed local success until the company was sold in 2005.

He is survived by daughters Christine M. Zayas of Indian Head, MD and Liaric Arundel of Davie, FL; brother, Ronald Sedergren of Westfield, MA; grandchildren, Gilbert A. Rosenbrier, Nicholas A. Rosenbrier, Matthew E. Burke, Sean W. Burke, Robert J. Zayas of Waldorf, MD and Alina C. Zayas of Colonial Beach, VA.

Friends received on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 6PM until Mass of Christian Burial at 7PM at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, 100 Village Street, Waldorf, MD 20602. Bob loved animals and regularly contributed to the ASPCA. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations in his honor to the Humane Society of Charles County, PO Box 1015, Waldorf, MD 20604.
