Michael William Cronan, 66, of Leonardtown, MD passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at home with his wife by his side. He was the faithful husband of 45 years to Julie Sweeney Cronan, the loving father to Philip (Genevieve), Christa, and Catherine (Andrew), and devoted grandfather to nine beautiful grandchildren. He was the beloved son of the late John and Marion McSweeney Gilroy, and the loyal brother of the late Jacqueline, late Dorothy, Philip, John, and Thomas.

A native of Astoria, Queens, NY, and graduate of St. Michael's College in Colchester, VT ('72), Michael was a longtime resident of Waldorf, MD, and spent his career as sales manager for Michelin Tires and regional salesman for Somerset Homes.

Michael was an extraordinarily gentle and kind hearted man who accepted and prevailed over all the challenges of his life with a quiet dignity and firm resolve. His life focused around spending time with his family and friends. He never missed an opportunity to make those around him feel comfortable, welcomed, and loved, and he imparted these same values to his children.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 15 at 10:00 am at St. Aloysius, 22800 Washington St, Leonardtown, MD. Memorial donations may be made to Pitch In For Baseball (pifb.org); an organization that provides baseball and softball equipment to children in the United States and around the world who want to play ball but lack the equipment to do so.
