Mary Veronica Tippett, 97, of Lexington Park, MD passed away on July 6, 2016 at her residence. Born May 1, 1919 in Baltimore, MD she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Samelko. Mary was the loving wife of the late Oliver Hamilton Tippett whom she married on February 11, 1950 in St. James Church, Dameron, MD and preceded her in death on January 22, 1996.

Mary is survived by her children; Ann Tippett of Park Hall, MD and Oliver (Teresa) Tippett of Ridge, MD, grandchildren; Michelle Anderson, Allison Tippett, Jason Thompson and Nicholas Thompson, great grandchild; Joshua Anderson. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Antoinette Drenga, Walter Samelko, Bertha Samelko, Joseph Samelko and James Samelko.

Mary moved to St. Mary's county in 1950 from Baltimore, MD. She was a Post Office Clerk for St. Mary's County Postal Service, retiring in 1980 after 12 years of service. Mary belonged to the Lexington Park Homemakers, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, and walking in her younger years.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 9:00AM to 10:00AM in St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM with Father Scott Woods officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Dameron, MD. Arrangements by Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home.
