Melville "Mel" Gray Adkins Jr., 59, of Waldorf, MD passed away on April 25, 2016 at University of MD Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata, MD. He was born on February 10, 1957 in Washington, DC to the late Melville Gray and Leida Marie Tadle Adkins, Sr.

Mel was a self-employed Musician. He spent time in amateur and professional theater, having performed on Broadway and locally at Port Tobacco Players and Tantallon Community Players. He acted as an extra on several big box office movies. He has recorded professionally with a few named recording studio artist. He was a Washington Nationals and Washington Redskins fan.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by two brothers; Robert Adkins and Christopher Adkins and his beloved dog Chocolate "Choco". He is survived by three brothers; Jeffrey Adkins, Patrick Adkins and his wife Carol and Gregory Adkins and his wife Wendy, two nieces Candace Sowers and Ashley Adkins, two nephews Shane Adkins and Cory Adkins and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial contributions are requested to Charles County Humane Society, P.O. Box, Waldorf, MD 20604 and/or Tri-County Animal Shelter, 6707 Animal Shelter Road, Hughesville, MD 20637. Visitation will be on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with a prayer service at 7:00PM at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 10:00AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD 20735. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
