On Sunday, March 13, 2016 Ivy Katrina Swann, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, departed her earthly life. Ivy was born in Washington, D.C. on April 19, 1959 the second youngest child of the late Charles and Roxie Swann.

She was a member of the Alexandria Chapel United Methodist Church in Rison Maryland and received her education through the Charles County School System. Ivy began her government career with the Navy Contracting Office in Crystal VA in 1984, leaving the Navy to seek employment with the US Postal Services in Waldorf MD where she retired in January 2016.

Ivy's life passions and enjoyment were spending quality time with family and friends, flowers, cooking, (best known for her crab meat stuffed deviled eggs), shopping, playing the lottery, scratch tickets and keno and doing for others.

In addition to her parents, Ivy was preceded in death by her sisters; Sharon Swann and Jackie Colbert, and brother; Ledru Swann.

She leaves to cherish her memories son, Jamohl Aaron Swann; two grandchildren Jamir and Kennedy; four brothers, Michael (Debra), Glenn (Ronica) , DeWayne Swann; and Rickey Adams; sisters, Lisa Swann and Laura Greenfield, nieces, Keisha, Ledreka, and Theresa Swann; Fallon O'Brien; nephews, Glenn A. Jr., De'Avis, Cameron, Michael II, (JR) Swann, Jaron Diggs, Bradley O'Brien and Dominick "Tank" Washington, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her viewing will be held from 9am until time of service 11am on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment Alexandria United Methodist Church, (Rison) Indian Head, MD. Arrangements provided by Thornton Funeral Home.
