John Walter Abell, 94, of La Plata, MD passed away on March 8, 2016 at Chesapeake Shores Nursing Home in Lexington Park, MD. Born on September 2, 1921 in St. Mary's County, MD he was the son of the late Walter Eugene Abell and the late Eleanor Clark Abell. John worked as a lineman for Verizon.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Mae Abell; son, Robert Abell; brothers, William Herbert Abell, Calvin Abell, David Lloyd Abell, Tom Abell, Brownie Abell and sister, Winifred Abell, all from St. Mary's County.

John is survived by his sister, Prisicilla Scott, brother George Abell and one very special care giver and very dear friend, Peggy Bowles of La Plata.

Family will receive friends for John's visitation on Friday, March 11, 2016 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A funeral service will start at 11:00am at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. with Pastor James Bell officiating followed by Interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.
