David Reed Conaghan, 57, passed away in his home on January 13, 2016. David was born on March 9, 1958 in Lima, Ohio. As a child, his love of science and rockets led him to a career developing missiles. He attended Ohio University, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Science. During his time at OSU, he joined the Naval ROTC.

After graduation, he served in the Navy onboard the USS Waddell. After serving in the Navy, he joined General Dynamics. He led Standard Missile integration with the AEGIS combat system. In 1988, Dave moved to the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, MD to provide simulation, integration, and system support for upgraded Standard Missiles. In 1992 and throughout the remainder of his career, he was with the Navy Advanced System Development Office, providing expertise and guidance for the design and testing of missiles and radars. Dave's father, a machinist, taught him a love of tools and cars, which Dave carried throughout his life. His joy was rebuilding his 1965 Mustang.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Jessie Conaghan. He is survived by his sister, Carol A. Urban; his niece, Tracey Goyer and her husband John; his nephew, Scott Urban and his wife Rachel; and his great nieces and nephews, Zachary Goyer, Annie Goyer, Lucas Urban, and Liza Urban.

Visitation on Thursday, January 21, 2015 from 5-8PM with Funeral Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment at Lima Memorial Park in Ohio at a later date. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
