John Hamilton Parlett, 77, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD. John was born on June 30, 1938 in Fairmont, WV to the late Hamilton D. Parlett and Della V. Evans.

On November 22, 1962, John married his beloved wife, Beverly Sue Parlett. They celebrated over 50 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in June 2013.

He was employed by the National Smithsonian Museum as a Specialist with over 35 years of dedicated service, until his retirement in 1990.

He enjoyed coaching tee ball when his children were young and running the roller skating truck for Recreation and Parks. He also enjoyed listening to country music, fishing, cheering on his beloved Orioles, and golfing. He had an extensive collection of light houses and bird houses. However, his greatest love was for his family, whom he loved to spend his time with. He was a volunteer firefighter for many years with District Heights and later Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department. He and his late wife enjoyed attending the Firemen's Convention in Ocean City every year.

John is survived by his children, Genny Lynn Miller of Millsboro, DE, Tammie Sue Parlett of Mechanicsville, MD and John Martin Parlett of Mechanicsville, MD; a brother, Michael Parlett of Fairmont, WV; three grandchildren, Crystal Parlett of Millsboro, DE, Ashley Evans of Alexandria, VA and Erika Parlett of Millsboro, DE; his great granddaughter, Charlotte Evans of Alexandria, VA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Sue Parlett.

Family will receive friends for John's Life Celebration on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be celebrated by Deacon Ammon Ripple on Monday, January 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens.
