Paul John Lyons, 69, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on October 15, 2015 at his residence in Mechanicsville, MD. Paul was born June 22, 1946 in Newark, NJ. He was the son of John Joseph Lyons and Doreen (Walguarnery) Lyons.

Paul was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge. He graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in 1965, and got married in 1966. Paul spent a year at Montgomery College before going into the United States Air Force and sent to Vietnam. Paul later worked for IBM Computers in Accounts Receivables. Paul moved to St. Mary's County in 1975. He retired from IBM in 1992 and worked for Charles County Public Schools until 2013.

Paul loved camping at the beach with his granddaughter Erin, his furry friend Molly, and family. He also loved surf fishing and working on his Chevy cars.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Janet Lyons of 49 years; his daughter, Cynthia Marie McRoy (Tony) of Mechanicsville, MD; his granddaughter, Erin Ann McRoy; sister, Kathleen Lyons of Deerwood, MD; brother-in-law, John A. Burke (Lisa) of Gaithersburg, MD; sister-in-law, Carol L. O'Neil of Columbia, MD; nieces, Melody A. O'Neil of Columbia, MD, Jennifer Keener (Dennis) of Pittsville, MD; nephews, Matthew R. Burke of Gaithersburg, MD and Ryan Murray of Portland, OR.

Pallbearers will be: Matthew Burke, John Burke, Tony McRoy, Bill DiBenedetto and Luke Slay. Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Wheatley. Family will receive friends for Paul's Life Celebration on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Rory T. Conley officiating. Interment will be private at 1:00 p.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
