Elizabeth Lewis Swicegood, 91, of Waldorf, MD passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, MD. She was living at Genesis Health Care Waldorf Center. Elizabeth was born Virginia Elizabeth Lewis on December 7, 1923 in Callao, VA the daughter of the late Harvey Tilten and Ethel Douglas Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester L. Evelhoch in 1981 and her second husband, Adrian B. Swicegood in 2013.

Elizabeth graduated as Valedictorian from Callao High School in 1941. She went on to attend Strayer Business College in Washington, DC and graduated in 1943. She married Chester L. Evelhoch in 1943 and they had one son. She moved from Washington, DC to Temple Hills, MD in 1956 and lived there until 2007 when she entered the Morningside House Assisted Living facility.

She worked for the Department of Agriculture from 1942 to 1947. She worked for Scuderi Brothers Construction Company for 10 years and then worked for the Department of the Navy for 24 years where she was an administrative assistant to the head of the Naval District Washington. She was a long-time member of Ryland Epworth United Methodist Church and served in many ways including head of the Primary Department, president of the Women's Society of Christian Service and as church treasurer.

She is survived by her son, Wayne L. Evelhoch and his wife Janet and many nieces and nephews.

Friends received on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 10:30AM until time of Funeral Service at 12PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:30AM at Henderson United Methodist Church Cemetery in Callao, VA. Memorials are requested to the American Heart Association or Henderson UMC Cemetery Fund, PO Box 22, Callao, VA 22435. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
