Barbara Ann Howell, 79, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on August 27, 2015 at SagePoint in La Plata, MD. Barbara was born on March 31, 1936 in Tompkinsville, MD to the late Spencer Nutwell and the late Thelma Goldsmith Nutwell. Barbara was also predeceased by her sister, Ann Louise Nutwell and brother, Hilray Nutwell.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Cyd Acker; sons, Michael and David Howell; sisters, Patsy Barber, Janie Bond and Joannie Nieves; brother, Neal "Buddy" Nutwell; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Barbara was employed as a Bank Teller at MD Bank & Trust and Old Line Bank in La Plata, MD. She enjoyed bowling, NASCAR and walking in her spare time. Barbara also liked plants and was fondly referred to as a "clean freak". Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with prayers at 7:00 PM at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, 211 St. Mary's Ave., La Plata, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home; Pastor Aaron Rumage to officiate. Interment immediately following at Christ Church-Wayside, 13050 Rock Point Rd., Newburg, MD 20664.

Pallbearers are John Bond, Billy Windsor, Troy Nieves, Gary Nutwell, Chad Nutwell and William Quade. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christ Church-Wayside, P.O.
