Nancy Susan Worsley (Nelson), 73, of Port Tobacco, MD passed away on August 9, 2015 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD after a long RA-related illness.

Nancy was born on November 5, 1941 to her parents, Col. Carl B. Nelson and Sara Barron Nelson in Honolulu, HI just 32 days prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. She returned to the Mainland with her mother after the attack while her father served in the Army Air Corps for the duration of the war.

Nancy attended Mt. Vernon High School in Alexandria, VA and after graduating attended Corcoran School of Art and Design in Washington, DC. In 1963, she married Samuel Clive Worsley, Jr. whom she met while working as his secretary at J.D. Marsh and Associates in Washington, DC. They were married almost 53 years.

After raising four children, Nancy enjoyed substitute teaching at Port Tobacco and Dr. James Craik Elementary Schools from 1983 until 1989, and at the Charles County Literary Council during the 1990's.

Nancy was a member of the Port Tobacco Restoration Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution where she served as the secretary and Veteran's Affairs Chairperson for the Port Tobacco Chapter. In addition to her interest in history, she was an avid collector of antiques. In her later years, Nancy spent much of her free time volunteering for a pet adoption organization in LaPlata, MD.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Samuel; her mother, Sara Nelson (age 101) of Williamsburg, VA; brothers, Carl B. Nelson, Jr. and George F. Nelson; her children and their spouses, Betsy Radinsky (Michael), Christopher Worsley (Susan), Jonathan Worsley (Rachael) and Justin Worsley (Ginger); and her seven grandchildren, Sarah Radinsky, Heather Worsley, Jacob Radinsky, Kyle Worsley, Grace Worsley, Noah Worsley and Amelia Worsley. She is preceded in death by her father, Col. Carl B. Nelson.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in remembrance of Nancy at a date to be determined. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Maryland S.P.C.A., 3300 Falls Rd., Baltimore, MD 21211 or to the Arthritis Foundation, 9891 Broken Land Pkwy., Suite #101, Columbia, MD 21046.
