Joseph Bernard "Butch" Gardiner, Jr., age 67, of Waldorf, MD died on June 25, 2015 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. He is the son of the late Joseph Bernard Gardiner, Sr. and the late Dorothy Eleanor Mudd Gardiner. He is also predeceased by his brother-in-law, Buford Boothe.

Butch was a mail clerk for 38 years with the Census Bureau and a long-time member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Waldorf, MD. He also ran his own trash removal service. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, swimming, his trucks, and attending church dinners. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Boothe, Bernice Dove and husband Don, Jean Wendell and husband George, Rose Stonestreet and husband Eddie, Eileen Finch and husband Harry, Susan Gardiner, Rita Gardiner and companion Mike, and Brenda Daniel and companion Dave; and his brothers, Pat Gardiner and wife Dorothy, Roger Gardiner and Earl Gardiner and wife Betty. Also survived by 22 nieces and nephews and 42 great nieces and nephews.

Friends were received on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 11AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers: Charles, Patrick, Lee, and Earl Gardiner, Jeff Stonestreet, and T.J. Daniel. Interment in the church cemetery.
