Ruby Lee Ledford, age 90, of Waldorf, MD died on June 9, 2015 at the Southern MD Hospital Center in Clinton, MD.

As a young woman, Ruby worked in a textile factory in Atlanta, GA before moving to Washington, DC in the late 1940's where she worked as a meat weigher/wrapper at the Swift & Company warehouse and the Safeway warehouse for 29 years and then she later retired. After retirement, she trained as a beautician and then became a child care provider.

She was a wonderful woman full of compassion and love for all of her family, friends, and strangers. She made it her life to take care of everyone. It was never about her but always about what she could do for someone else. We all are who we are because of her. She will be missed but we know her spirit will live on in our hearts forever and ever.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Cole; her mother, Bonnie Patterson Cole; her brothers and sisters, Howard, Hazel, Hubert, Bulan, Dorothy; and her son, Ronald D. Ledford. She is survived by her brother and sister, George and Betty; her son, Timmy D. Ledford; her daughter, Wanda K. Hobbs and husband Clarence; her granddaughters, Donna L. Frazier and husband Eldrich and Stephanie L. Hobbs and her friend Corbin; and her great grandchildren, Shannon Gravette, Christian Frazier, Alexander Frazier, and Cameron Frazier.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 1PM until Funeral Service at 3PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5634 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Memorials are requested to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
