John Francis Acton, age 60, of Waldorf, MD died on May 22, 2015 at the Charles County Hospice House in Waldorf, MD.

John was the CEO/Founder of Serve Associates, Inc. in Waldorf, MD and a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Oxon Hill, MD. He served as a long-time foster parent for the county, assisting with over 100 children, especially Brian Henry and Earl Anderson. In earlier years, he made a run for County Commissioner. He loved vacations in the Florida Keys and Disney World.

He is the son of the late George Harvey Acton and the late Kathryn Margaret Kirkpatrick Acton. He is also predeceased by his brother, George Acton; and nephew Derrick Beckner. He is survived by his brothers, Gregory and Gerald Acton and his sisters, Karen Beckner and Janice Smith. He is also survived by his uncle Paul (Gay) Kirkpatrick, 11 nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.

Friends will be received on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will be private at a later date.
