Edward Lee Jameson, 90, of La Plata, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Edward was born August 5, 1924 to Thomas Paul and Mabel Hayden Jameson.

A lifelong resident of Charles County, he grew up in Bel Alton and graduated from the old Sacred Heart School in 1942. He enjoyed a 40-year career with Southern Maryland Oil, working in a variety of jobs, among them fuel oil transport driver, service station management, and auto parts sales. It was at SMO that he met Anna Wimberger, whom he married in 1944. They lived together in Waldorf until 2001, when they moved to La Plata. Extended periods outside Southern Maryland included Edward's service in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II and many winters in the Myrtle Beach area during a 30-year retirement.

Baseball and golf were among the things he loved most. A ball player into his thirties, Edward played in the Charles-St. Mary's County Baseball league in the 1940s and 1950s and was instrumental in forming Waldorf's first little league team in 1957. In later years he enjoyed watching youth baseball and Southern Maryland Blue Crabs games. His last visit to Blue Crabs Stadium came in April, where he watched great grandson Derek's high school JV game. Edward traded baseball for golf in the 1960s. He was good at it, and achieved a remarkable six Holes in One. In recent years, he played at White Plains Golf Club, still occasionally shooting below his age.

Edward also loved dancing. Though he preferred swing, he and Anna moved to any music played at dances, restaurants, and weddings across Southern Maryland. Edward was a member of the American Legion (La Plata Post), Loyal Order of Moose (Mechanicsville Lodge), the Odd Fellows, and the White Plains Senior Golf Fellowship. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Edward is survived by Anna, his wife of 71 years, and six children – Thomas (Carlyn), Catherine, Rita Trapani (Joseph), Nancy, George (Dee), and Ronald (Diane). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a sister (Mary L. Folse), and more than 30 nieces and nephews. His parents, two brothers, and five sisters predeceased him.

Friends received on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with a Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Ave., La Plata, MD 20646. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 10AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Ave., La Plata, MD 20646. If you would like to make a donation in his memory, the family suggests American Legion Post 82 (La Plata), Loyal Order of Moose (Mechanicsville Lodge 495), or an organization that is important to you. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
