Shirley Elizabeth Conte, 85, of California, MD died May 1, 2015 at Hospice House of St. Mary's in Callaway, MD, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 20, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Walter Emmanuel Miesel and Helen Marie Akers.

Shirley was employed for over 30 years of dedicated service as a Systems Analyst for NCR Corporation before her retirement. Her job allowed her to travel extensively throughout the United States, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Some of her favorite places included Williamsburg, the Florida Keys, and Washington D.C.

She liked to spend time outside in her garden and at the beach. She was an avid swimmer and reader. She was very active in her church community, serving on the Finance Committee, teaching Sunday school for many years, and dedicating her time to the choir. She often sang solos as part of her contribution to the choir. However, her greatest love was for her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her children, Jeanne Souder (Jeff) of Feltwell, England, Cindi Uncles (John) of Centerville, VA, MerryLou Beal (Buddy) of Lexington Park, MD, Chick Conte of Pittsburgh, PA, Tom Conte (Jill) of Springboro, OH; her brothers, Victor Miesel (Flo) of Lake Charles, LA and Jack Miesel (Pat) of Pittsburgh, PA; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation with Shirley's family will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration Service commemorating her life at 11:00 a.m. at Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 20850 Langley Road, Lexington Park, MD 20653. Pastor Mitch Watney will officiate at the service. Interment will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, 401 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
