Mary Gertrude "Sis" Swann Savoy was born, October 4, 1921 to the late Walter Thomas Swann and the late Mary Lottie Proctor Swann in Charles County, Maryland.

Sis, as she was lovingly called by her family, was educated in the Charles County School System in Port Tobacco, Maryland. She married the late William Augustine Savoy, Sr. and from their union seven children were born. In addition to being a loving wife and stern disciplinarian, Sis' career path developed from personal housekeeping to entering the federal government with the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, Maryland and finally retiring from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington, D.C. as a Supervisor. Sis was a workaholic that loved to tend to her yard, spend time at the casinos and crochet. In her 90's she was always strong in her convictions and was determined to drive her car and lawnmower.

On March 19, 2015 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, MD, "Sis" peacefully left this earth to be joined with her heavenly father and those that ascended before her, which includes her parents, Walter and Mary Swann, husband, Augustine, children, Jerome, Judy, Thomas "Tommy," Wayne and William "Doc," grandson, Carl, siblings, Monroe (1953), Wilbert "Willie" (1978), Veronica (1996), Nathan (1993), James "Russell" (1998), Lynn (2001).

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Charles Bruce "Rusty" Savoy and Joan Irene Savoy Watson; son-in-law, David Pedro Watson, three daughters-in-law, Mervin, Bertha Ann and Diana Savoy, 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Georgianna Penny and Peggy Watson (Howard), four brothers, Lawrence, Percell (Jean), John and Louis (Hester) Swann; best friend, Theresa Proctor and a host of other family and friends.

Her viewing will be from 10am until Mass of Christian Burial 11am, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph Way, Pomfret, Maryland, Interment Church Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Thornton Funeral Home, P.A.
