Mary Bure Thompson of Pomfret, Maryland, died on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Fenwick Landing Assisted Living in Waldorf, MD. She was 93 years old.

She was born on Saturday, January 28, 1922 in Welcome, MD to the late Joseph Phillip Harley and the late Mary Angie (Thompson) Harley. She was the youngest of nine children, all of whom preceded her in death.

Mary grew up in Charles County, MD and worked on the farm with her family. The love of growing plants carried over to her adult years, where you always could see the beautiful flower gardens in her yard. Mary was educated in the Charles County School System. Her work career included three years at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head and many years caring for different families in the area.

She met her husband, James William "Buddy" Thompson and they were married on April 22, 1946. They made a home together in Pomfret, MD. She enjoyed being a homemaker and spent her time keeping their home immaculate and tending to her beautiful flower gardens.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Pomfret and attended Mass everyday until she became ill. She would then receive the Holy Sacrament from the visiting Eucharistic Minister and viewed mass daily on the television. Mary Bure will always be remembered for her stylish ways and the way she always dressed in the latest fashions.

In addition to her parents and siblings, Mary Bure was preceded in death by husband James and her daughter Gloria Marie.
She leaves to mourn her passing, many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. May she find rest and peace in her new home with all her family that have gone before her. She will be missed by those she leaves behind.

Visitation on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 10AM until time of Mass at 11AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph Way Pomfret, MD 20675. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
