Doris Belle Latimer Golden, 84, of White Plains, MD died February 6, 2015 at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, MD. Doris was born on January 26, 1931 in Charles County, MD in the small town of Billingsley which was named after her grandparents who were the Post Masters of 27 years for the Billingsley Post Office. The area is now named White Plains. She was born and raised in Southern, MD.

On September 8, 1951 Doris married Elmer Melvin Golden of Welcome, MD. She was a faithful and devoted wife of 40 years. They did not have any children. After marriage Doris enjoyed many hobbies and activities with Elmer, such as; collecting antique automobiles, watching and feeding birds, traveling and maintaining a nice home and beautiful yard.

Doris worked for The Maryland Tobacco Growers Association, The Department of the Navy, and the medical office of Dr. Sanjeeb Mishra, secretary to the administrator for Physicians Memorial Hospital currently known as the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center. She was also a substitute teacher for Southern Maryland Christian Academy. She loved children and enjoyed teaching them scriptures during Sunday school.

Doris was a devoted Christian. She loved her church and church family very much. She waited all week for a good service. Many may not know that Doris was an active choir member for many years at previous churches and had a beautiful soprano voice. During many Doctors visits for health concerns she and the Doctor would walk out together smiling as she had shared the love of Jesus with them. She lived her life to be an example to others be always inquiring as to everyone's well-being and encouraging others. Whenever she felt anyone was discouraged she would recall the right scripture or the perfect song by memory and recite or sing to brighten their day. She loved to write and send cards.

In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents Nelson Guy and Rachel Belle Billingsley Latimer. She is survived by one brother Guy Billingsley Latimer, Three nieces; Denise Golden Raley, Diane Golden Branham and Jill Latimer Brady, one nephew Guy B. Latimer, several great nephews including; Justin Brady, David Brady, Brendan Latimer and two great nieces; Emily Latimer and Sarah Latimer. She doted on her great nieces and nephews and prayed for them constantly.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Southern Maryland Fellowship Church, 9805 Faith Baptist Church Road, White Plains, MD 20695 from 10 – 11:30 AM with a funeral service to begin at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. Contributions are requested to Southern Maryland Fellowship Church, 9805 Faith Baptist Church Road, White Plains, MD 20695. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.

The family wishes to thank you for joining them at this time as they celebrate Doris' life and most of all her home going. She specifically requested there be no tears shed for her passing and that all would see there is hope for tomorrow and your eternity by accepting the grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. It is the family's prayer that each of you might personally know Jesus as your Savior and the love of your life. His grace is sufficient and his promises are true.
