Audrey Dorman Keene, 89, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away peacefully February 5, 2015 at Hospice House of St. Mary's surrounded by her loving family. Born October 16, 1925 in Coats, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. Dorman and the late Ester G. Lucas.

Audrey enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and hosting family gatherings at her home she shared with her daughter Debbie. She spent many years sewing beautiful quilts, making baskets & pottery, as well as cooking. When she was able, she loved to garden and enjoyed watching birds from her decks and windows. Her most recent pastime was completing hundreds of word searches, which kept her mind sharp. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Arlington County Health Department in Virginia for 25 years. She recently moved to Southern Maryland in 1998 to live near family.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her husband Walter M. Keene, her son, W. Michael Keene, III, as well as her six brothers and sisters.

Audrey is survived by her daughter, Debbie Ferguson, two grandchildren- Holly Fleshman (husband Nicholas Fleshman) and Katherine Hatcher (husband Patrick Hatcher), 2 great grandchildren (Justin and Jayden Hatcher) and one step-granddaughter, Sarah Bowman (Natalie Bowman).

The family will receive friends for Audrey's Life Celebration Memorial Gathering on Monday, February 9, 2015 from 1-2pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Memorial Service will begin at 2pm, followed by a reception at a family's residence at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice of St. Mary's, P. O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Arrangements provided by Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home.
