Theresa Lynn Dyson Abernathy, 60, of La Plata, MD, passed away on January 6, 2015 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, MD. She was born on August 4, 1954 in La Plata, MD. She was the daughter of the late Charles Reginald Dyson, Sr. and Mary Elsie Gardiner Dyson. In addition to her father, Theresa was predeceased by her brothers, Charles R. Dyson, Jr. and Louis David Dyson.

Theresa enjoyed reading, needle point, movies, painting ceramics and her family. She was passionate about her books and her children. She was a loving and devoted mother and a faithful friend.

Theresa is survived by her children, Sarah L. McClure (Andrew), Kathryn "Kacey" Abernathy , Johnathan "JD" Abernathy (Lauren); sisters, Deborah A. Dean, Regina Estevez (Ricky), Marla Dyson; and grandchildren, Anna and Emily McClure.

The family will receive friends for Theresa's Visitation on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Prayers at 7:00 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Richard Gardiner officiating at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall, MD. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617.
