John P. O'Connor, age 67, of Huntingtown, MD, died on January 5, 2015, with his family by his side. He was born on October 11, 1947, to James and Mary O'Connor.

John graduated from Suitland High School in 1965. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers, Local 100 since 1971. John served as Secretary of Labor & Industry for the State of Maryland during the Glendening Administration. He retired in 2008 from Anne Arundel County Government.

He is survived by his sister, Jean Connell; daughters Dawn Bowman (Jeff), Karen Loeffler (Nick), Christine O'Connor, and son John O'Connor (Katie). Grandfather of Erika, Lucy, Joe, Kennedy and Jack.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church, 885 Cox Road, Huntingtown, MD 20639, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 10 at 11 am. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. Arrangements provided by Lee Funeral Home.
