John Lore, Sr., of La Plata, Maryland, died on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata. He was 79 years old. Born on August 14, 1935 in Hempstead, New York he was the son of the late Lucia Maye and the late Frank Lore.

Mr. Lore served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War era before being Honorably Discharged at the rank of Corporal. He received several awards and citations while in the military including the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Services Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After his service to his country, Mr. Lore was a marble floor installer with the Carpenter's Union for many years.

He is survived by his daughters Regina Oliver and her husband Johnny, Lisa Lore; his son Dominic Lore; brothers Dominick Lore, Joseph Lore, Raymond Lore and Christian Lore; grandchildren Hailey Keefer, Michael Keefer, Angel Lore, Lindsey Oliver, Brent Oliver, Alex Oliver, McKenzie Oliver, Ashley Lore and Sarah Lore; his great granddaughter Veronica Oliver; also survived by several sisters.

Visitation on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Service and interment will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery at 11:30AM. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
