Betty Sue Hudson, 77, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away peacefully on December 4, 2014 at the Prince George's Shock Trauma Hospital in Cheverly, MD. Betty was born June 2, 1937 to the late Doyle E. Benfield and Ruby L. (Lackey) Benfield in Lenoir, NC. Betty and her family moved from Lenoir, NC to Charles County, MD in 1956 and later to St. Mary's County. After Betty's father passed away, she married Michael (Mickey) Hudson of Leonardtown, MD on December 21, 1968. Mickey preceded her in death on March 10, 1970.

Betty became a waitress at many restaurants in Charles and St. Mary's Counties. The one restaurant Betty spoke of often was Leonardtown Warf and how she would work double shifts most of the time – that's one thing about Betty, she was a hard worker and she never sat still for long.

Betty and her mother moved to Goldsboro, NC and then on to Weaverville, NC where she lived for 22 years before returning to St. Mary's County. Betty loved gardening (especially flowers), shopping, eating out at Golden Corral (with her birthday ladies once a month) and Cracker Barrel, traveling, family, friends, her church, the Lord, and her biggest love was Elvis Presley.

Betty is survived by her four children, Randle Benfield (Jacqueline) of Mechanicsville, MD, Roger Benfield (Elsie) of Hughesville, MD, Douglas Benfield (Susan) of Mechanicsville, MD, and Clay Benfield (Charlotte) of King George, VA; and her aunt Elta Proctor of Hartwell, GA (whom Betty spoke with almost every night at 9PM). She is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews, 25 great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece. She is also predeceased by her sister, Petty Jean Stauffer-Morgan.

The family would like you to come and join them to celebrate Betty's life on Thursday, December 11, 2014 beginning at 10AM at the Faith Bible Church, 26325 Three Notch Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659 with Interment at St. Francis Cemetery in Compton, MD.
