Dossie "Dot" Tindell Rogers, age 94, passed away November 20, 2014, at her home in Lexington Park. She was born June 3, 1920 in Corryton, Tennessee, the daughter of Nellie Ferguson Tindell and John Tindell.

She married J. Will Rogers on October 25, 1941, and they resided in Knox County, Tennessee, and West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by her sister, Wanda Clapp, of Wichita, Kansas, her daughter, Linda Lamb (Ken) of Lexington Park, her granddaughter, Audrey Lamb (Chris Gamblin) of Lawrence, Kansas, grandson Chris Lamb (Ruth Mejil) of Mountain View, California, and great-grandchildren Lucy and Jesse Gamblin and Sofia Whittingham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Will Rogers, and her sister, Zola Satterfield.

Dot and J. Will spent the years of World War II as an Army Air Corps couple as he served as a B-17 pilot, completing 25 missions in the European Theater. With their infant daughter in tow, the traveling and support she provided to her husband and to the country's defense was perhaps the highlight of her life.

Dot spent many years sewing clothing alterations at department stores and specialty shops in Knoxville, Tennessee. Dot and J. Will were charter members of Beaverbrook Country Club in Tennessee, where they loved to play golf and treat visitors to dinner. They later moved to west Palm Beach, Florida, and lived next to the golf course.

Dot was an avid golfer until December, 2013. She volunteered to work the leader boards at many PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA tournaments in the West Palm Beach area. In addition to enjoying golf on TV, she was a loyal University of Tennessee football and men's and women's basketball fan.

When J. Will fell ill, Dot learned to take care of him and spent countless selfless hours at his side as his primary caretaker through his long illness. She was a long-time member of Graveston Baptist Church in Corryton, Tennessee, and of Village Community Church in West Palm Beach, Florida, before moving to Lexington Park, Maryland, and joining Lexington Park Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, 4131 E. Emory Road, Knoxville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, December 2, from 6-8 P.M. A graveside service at Lynnhurst Cemetery will follow on Wednesday, December 3, at 11 A.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, Maryland 20650, and to the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 339, Lexington Park, MD 20653. Arrangements by the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, MD.
