Candace Carol Cummings, 64, of Lexington Park, MD, died on November 4, 2014 following a valiant battle with cancer. Born on September 26, 1950 in Patuxent River, MD she is the daughter of Jesse Thomas Cummings of Lexington Park, MD and the late Lucille Angela Cummings.

Candy is survived by her long-term companion, David B. Jarrell of Solomons, MD, her beloved dogs, Max & Zoe and many extended family and friends. In addition to her mother, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Cummings.

Candy was a graduate of Philadelphia's Temple University: Tyler School of Art. Her passion for art began at a very young age with her first lessons starting in preschool. Later in life she pursued art as a full time vocation. Among her many accomplishments, Candy had s how of her art work at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore and her work is part of their permanent collection. The majority of her working years were spent in the hospitality industry as a high profile, high end caterer working in Washington DC, the US Virgin Islands, and the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey.

Ten years ago, Candy established the Lexington Park Library Art Gallery for the purpose of featuring amateur, student, professional and children artists from the local area. Most recently, she inspired the Top It Off Event held in the Leonardtown Square on Pink Friday which celebrated her belief that laughter was far more therapeutic than any other form of treatment.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 22375 Three Notch Road, Lexington Park, MD 20653. A Memorial Service will be celebrated by Reverand Michael Sajnog at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
