Brenda Sophina (Johnson) Short, 66, transitioned to eternal life on Saturday, November 1, 2014. She was born April 15, 1948 to the late Wallace, Sr. and Agnes Johnson in Pomonkey, MD. Brenda was the fourth of seven children. She grew up in Pomonkey, MD and attended Pomonkey High School.

Brenda was employed with the Federal Government as a Contract Specialist for GSA, She retired in 2004 after 30 years of service. She loved her job and felt very proud of the service she was providing. Brenda was a giving person. She was family oriented and loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved football, especially her Dallas Cowboys. Brenda was a great cook. She also loved to attend social events and loved to shop.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory her devoted and loving Husband, Charles Gilbert Short. Three children; Leona Briscoe, Danita Williams and Charles Gilbert Short II; four grandchildren; Malik Williams, Taylor Crawford, Maya Williams and Charles Gilbert Short III; four brothers, Wayne Johnson (Lilly), Wallace Johnson Jr. (Denise), Carl Johnson (Juanita) and Arnold Johnson, two sisters, Barbara Chapman and Lola Cooper , many great nieces and nephews and a multitude of cousins and friends.

The Viewing will be held from 9:00 -9:30am; Funeral Service, 10:00am on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Victory Chapel, 16401 Manning Road West, Accokeek, MD. Interment: St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, MD. Arrangements have been made by Thornton Funeral Home.
