Southern Maryland Shotokan Karate Club is a non-profit Karate club dedicated to practicing Shotokan Karate. All students train in the fundamentals of stance, punching, kicking, striking and blocking. Competitive Karate is not emphasized. However, as the club is a member of the ISKF, there are competitive avenues for those students interested in competition. Minimum age for membership is 11. Exceptions can be made for those younger students who have a parent or older sibling in the club.
